Jim Heitmeyer for Sheriff Oklahoma County 2008 Information and goals for the Sheriffs Office Working Together, Oklahoma County Will Be A Safer Place For Our Citizens To Live 1.28 years + experience in jail operations and law enforcement. 2.U.S. War Veteran, former Marine and Army National Guardsman. 3.Will support all citizens equally in Oklahoma County. 4.The sheriffs office will be managed and supervised professionally. 5.Will re-define priorities and direction for the Sheriffs Office. 6.Will reduce excessive and unnecessary spending for the Sheriffs Office and for our taxpayers. 7.Provide security for businesses, schools, parks, shopping centers, and neighborhoods in incorpo rated and unincorporated areas as possible. 8.Provide safe working conditions for all Sheriffs Office employees. 9.Will reorganize and modify the patrol division where necessary. 10. Provide detention officers with additional training and school opportunities. 11. Establish a clear line of communication with the public and media. 12. Assist neighborhood watch commanders and committees. 13. Provide an affective food service program and professional medical care for prisoners. 14. Correct needed maintenance issues and repair the jail facility. 15. Stop contraband and illegal drugs from entering the jail facility. 16. Reduce and maintain the number of prisoners in order to prevent overcrowding. 17. Provide protection, safety and clean living conditions for prisoners. 18. Provide [free] training and assistance for a ll law enforcement agencies. 19. Prevent, reduce and pro-actively detect crimes in Oklahoma County. 20.Will arrest people [criminals] who violate US laws in entering our country illegally as law allows. 21.Will examine present ongoing programs within the sheriffs office so that I can determine which programs are productive, cost effective or necessary in continuing. 22.All other decisions will have to be made after I have had the opportunity to see what is presently going on at the sheriffs office, other than the information I have already presented here. Im running for sheriff of Oklahoma County because it is time for a good change and direction for the sheriffs office and for what is right for our citizens. I want to be the sheriff, and have the experience to do it. My family, friends and some citizens of Oklahoma County also encouraged me to run. My previous 28 years experience working in the County Jail as a deputy, a jail commander and in being a police officer, has given me the resources and knowledge I will need in finding the necessary solutions to the pending problems going on in the sheriffs office, and in our communities. Most solutions or actions will not be easy or accomplished overnight, they will take time .. but changes for the good will happen. The jail is a favorite specialty of mine and that I have the expertise. I know how to manage the right professional people to get any job done.
