Conchell - The Javalins vs. The Crazy Strangers (Indorock ) part 2 First up is the Javalins with their 1962 live version of the song followed by the original Conchell as recorded by the Crazy Strangers in 1961 in Israel. Indorock band the Crazy Strangers arose in Germany out of the remaining ashes from 2 well known Indorock groups Oety & his Real Rockers and the Hurricane Rollers. The band line-up was Franky Franken (lead vocals and lead guitar), Peter Teunissen (bass guitar), Gerard Buskop (piano), Hans Bax (rhythm guitar), Walter Köhn (saxophone) and Tommy Chuo (drums). In 1961 this group recorded 2 eps and 2 lps in Israel. After the Crazy Strangers returned to Germany drummer Tommy Chuo was replaced by Robby Latuperisa and the bandname was changed into the Javalins. The Crazy Strangers zijn ontstaan uit de restanten van 2 bekende Indorock groepen Oety & his Real Rockers en the Hurricane Rollers. The 6 Tornados - Kiddies Hully-Gully Time (60s instrumental Indorock) / Little Wallflower The 6 Tornados was a group led by bandleader/guitarist Hans Bürck. These 2 songs were released on 7" single on CBS 1426 (Kiddies Hully-Gully Time - 1963) and Comet SCH 42 (Little Wallflower). This band was mainly active in Germany and would later change their name into the Tornados after only 5 bandmembers from their last band line up were still left. In Loving Memory Of Rudi "Piroeli" Pieroelie... September 15, 2008 Indorocker Rudi Piroeli Pieroelie passed away at the age of 76. Rudi was one of the founding members of the Bell Boys in the 1950s, a band which of course became better known as the now legendary Indorock band the Black Dynamites / Los Indonesios. Apart from his own Bell Boys/Black Dynamites/Los Indonesios, Rudi had also been playing in various other rock and roll groups such as the Real Room Rockers, the Hurricane Rollers and the Strangers. Jan Akkerman Live At The Bintang Theatre - Pasar Malam Besar 1 Jan Akkerman playing the guitar at the Bintang Theatre to pay tribute to the great Indorockers from the 1950s and 1960s that inspired him to become the great guitarist that he is today. This skilled master is best known for his tasteful guitar playing in such bands as Focus, Brainbox, the Hunters, Johnny and his Cellar Rockers. Some hits include Russian Spy And I, Down man, Dark Rose, Amsterdam First Days, Summertime and Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus, a song which Jan Akkerman recorded together with his group Focus, was recently even covered by the Foo Fighters. In 1973 Jan Akkerman was chosen "Best Guitarist Of The World" by the readers of the UK magazine Melody Maker. After leaving Focus in the 70s Jan Akkerman recorded many beautiful solo albums of which some together with longtime buddy (and fellow Brainbox bandmember) singer Kaz Lux. The Hot Jumpers - A Trip Down Memory Lane (Indorock) Indo The legendary Dutch Indorock group the Hot Jumpers started in 1956 in Bandoeng (Bandung) Indonesia. The original line up consisted of 3 brothers Dolf, Arie and Anton van Caspel together with Jim Paul and Ernst Wolf. In 1958 Dolf Caspel formed a new line up in Den Haag (The Hague) Holland which featured drummer Rob Danekes, sologuitarist Winnetou Monoarfa, rhythm guitarist Jan Oechies, singer Jim Pownall and new bandleader/bass player Oscar Rexhauser. This was the start of a brand new era which would lead the Hot Jumpers to becoming one of the hottest Indorock bands from the Netherlands. As a result of that they played almost each and every venue in Holland and shared stages with the likes of Cliff Richard & the Shadows, Freddy Cannon, Jim Reeves and the Beatles. Indorock group the Residents was founded in the Hague after well known Dutch Indorock group the Crazy Rockers broke up in 1966 and three of its remaining bandmembers (bass player Pim Veeren, lead vocalist/rhythm guitar player Woody Brunings and lead player Max Tahalele) decided to team up with ex Black Dynamites/ex Timebreakers drummer Henny Heutink. 2nd lead guitar player Wout Janse (ex Meteors/Skymeteors) completed this very first Residents line up, which would gain populairity after displaying their close harmonies and cristal clear Fender Jazzmaster Indorock sound live at the Palais De Danse, Scheveningen -- Holland in 1966. The same year lead guitar player Max Tahalele left the band and was replaced by Otto Roos on keys who in turn got replaced some time later by Jack van Rossum. In 1967 they recorded their only 7" single (Gabrielle/This Is My Dream) at the Soundpush studios for the Tania recordlabel. Both songs were written by Frank Smit who would later gain fame in Holland with his group the Dizzy Mans Band. In 1969 the Residents finally disbanded.

Franky And The Timebreakers - Ill Be Home / Ill Take Care Of You The Timebreakers proved that Indorock was still alive during the 2nd half of the 60s, but they were so much more than Indorock. This band just had it all superb musicians of which each could also provide some great lead singin and contribute to some perfect close harmony vocals, a classical trained organ player (who later went on to play with Tom Jones) and of course their top notch Indorock show. Bandmembers had previously been playing in such TOP Indorock bands as the Strangers, the Fender Rollers and the Tielman Brothers. With two former members from the almighty Tielman Brothers (Franky Luyten and Alfons Favery) in the band line up, the Timebreakers could easily compete with the Tielman Brothers and in fact even beat them at their own game at times! Just listen to their fantastic single Ill Be Home and youll definitely be convinced. Lead singer Franky Luyten did match Andy Tielmans incredible vocal range with ease here. Even Andy Tielman himself could not other than agree on this and he eventually would join the Timebreakers in 1972 for a half year stint! Unfortunately in 1977 this supergroup decided to call it a day. Luckily plenty of (live) recordings were left for their many fans to enjoy!

Henk van Broekhoven - Lead Vocals/Guitar Gerrit van Veen - Guitar Ad Doomen Drums Sjef Haans Bass Guitar Peter van den Heuvel (Peter Hill) - Guitar A Dutch 50s/60s rock & roll group that was inspired by Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Elvis Presley, but also by legendary Indorock bands such as the Tielman Brothers and the Hurricane Rollers. The Desmounts - Orange Fire The Desmounts were founded in a Dutch city called Den Haag (The Hague) in 1959 by drummer Paul van den Berg (the name of the band was a loose translation of his last name). Other bandmember were sologuitarist Frits Hempelman, 2nd sologuitarist Steve Biesot and bassplayer John Lauterbach. When Steve Biesot was had to serve the Dutch army in 1960, guitarist Sam Resodihardjo came in along with singer Joey Chong. The Desmounts was a typical Indorock band, but with all bandmembers being huge Ventures fans, the band of course played lots of Ventures songs besides their own Indorockin repertoire. After having played in various rock & roll clubs in Holland as well as Belgium and Germany, the band finally falls apart in 1964.

1962 Hank Brooklyn and the Dynamic Rockers - The Young Ones Special request Enjoy! Band line up Hank Brooklyn a.k.a. Henk van Broekhoven - Lead Vocals/Guitar Gerrit van Veen - Guitar Ad Doomen Drums Sjef Haans Bass Guitar Peter van den Heuvel (Peter Hill) - Guitar A Dutch 50s/60s rock & roll group that was inspired by Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Elvis Presley, but also by legendary Indorock bands such as the Tielman Brothers and the Hurricane Rollers. In the 70s and early 80s lead singer Hank Brooklyn (real name=Henk van Broekhoven) would become a populair Dutch singer using the alias John Spencer. In the 80s his group the Dynamic Rockers also reunited and recorded various new albums. As a studio engineer Henk van Broekhoven produced various albums recorded by Indorock artists such as the Black Dynamites, the Eastern Aces and Andy Tielman/Tielman Brothers.

Other bandmember were sologuitarist Frits Hempelman, 2nd sologuitarist Steve Biesot and bassplayer John Lauterbach. When Steve Biesot was had to serve the Dutch army in 1960, guitarist Sam Resodihardjo came in along with singer Joey Chong. The Desmounts was a typical Indorock band, but with all bandmembers being huge Ventures fans, the band of course played lots of Ventures songs besides their own Indorockin repertoire. After having played in various rock & roll clubs in Holland as well as Belgium and Germany, the band finally falls apart in 1964.

1963 Eddy And The Crazy Jets - CMon Lets Slop / Down By The Riverside (Eddy C) Special request Enjoy! Lead singer/lead guitarist Eddy Chatelin was of course still a bandmember of the Crazy Rockers at that time, but formed his own group while serving the army in 1963. The other bandmembers were drummer Rudy Davids, lead guitarist Rudy "Blacky" Swart and bass guitarist Andrei Serban. Eddy and the Crazy Jets recorded 2 singles CMon Lets Slop/Down By The Riverside and Highschool Blues/By The Light Of The Silvery Moon). In 1964 Eddy Chatelin returned to the Crazy Rockers.

Sinterklaas - Hij Komt, Hij Komt (Santa Claus Boogie - instrumental Indorock - Indo Rock by Ricky and the Rhythm Strings) December 5 is the day that the people (especially the kids) from the Netherlands and Belgium are celebrating the birthday of Sinterklaas (the original Santa Claus) with the traditional "Pakjesavond" (Evening Of Gifts). The older kids and adults are having their surprise parties with homemade works of art and some (often sarcastic) poetry to come along with that. The little kids will have to wait till the next day to see if they have gotten any candy or presents in their shoes. December 6 is also the day that Sinterklaas and his friends "De Zwarte Pieten" (The Black Petes) will say goodbye and return to their home. Next year november they will come back with some more goodies and then it will start all over again. About the band Ricky and the Rhythm Strings are a Dutch Indorock / Indo Rock band from a city called Den Haag (The Hague). The song Santa Claus Boogie (Hij Komt, Hij Komt) is from their sixties album Beach Party.

Jan Akkerman Live At The Bintang Theatre - Pasar Malam Besar 2 Jan Akkerman playing the guitar at the Bintang Theatre to pay tribute to the great Indorockers from the 1950s and 1960s that inspired him to become the great guitarist that he is today. This skilled master is best known for his tasteful guitar playing in such bands as Focus, Brainbox, the Hunters, Johnny and his Cellar Rockers. Some hits include Russian Spy And I, Down man, Dark Rose, Amsterdam First Days, Summertime and Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus, a song which Jan Akkerman recorded together with his group Focus, was recently even covered by the Foo Fighters. In 1973 Jan Akkerman was chosen "Best Guitarist Of The World" by the readers of the UK magazine Melody Maker. After leaving Focus in the 70s Jan Akkerman recorded many beautiful solo albums of which some together with longtime buddy (and fellow Brainbox bandmember) singer Kaz Lux. Ricky Blake (real name=Richard Blanken) was the lead singer of a band called the Rhythm Gamblers before he decided to go to Germany with the Royal Six (Strings). After bandleader/lead guitarist Tjalie Schuilenburg left the group the name of the group became Ricky Blake and the Royals. Ricky Blake and the Royals recorded just one single I Want To Love You / Opera Twist (Newtone NT 737 / Big-Ben MB 7053). Opera Twist is in fact the same song as the one the Black Dynamites recorded in 1960 for their 2nd single Brush Those Tears. The only difference being the opera intro sung by Ricky Blake. After the Royals split up Ricky Blake joined his friends the Black Dynamites with whom he recorded 2 more singles for the Belgium Show Records label (Twist In The Mood / Dont Blame Me - SH 1054 and Faraway Places / Ginny Ginny - SH 1080).

The Tornados - Sittin In The Park (The 6 Tornados / The Pacifics - Indorock / Indo Rock) 1965 Special request Enjoy! Featuring Nono de Vries (lead vocals/guitar), Rio Dalimonthee (guitar/sax/vocals), Henk Jansen (bass/vocals), Hans Bürck (guitar/vocals) and Freddie (drums). Theres an incredible story going round about this one. Witnesses from that era claim that this song was originally written by Tornados singer/guitarist Nono de Vries, but that he sold it for a bit of money and some cigarettes to his friend Billy Stewart. Apparently Billy Stewart liked the song very much and wanted to see his name on the record label to impress some lady. This story would also explain why this song sounded so different from those other earlier Billy Stewart songs. Anyway, true or not this is one great soulful version of the song which definitely deserves to heard.
